Think Big Move Mountains Conference 2019

The Think Big Conference is intended for young adult service providers in Colorado. Attendees come from the state, county, local areas, and communities across Colorado, and all play a role in helping young adults identify and overcome barriers, set education and career goals, and transition to adulthood and independence. There has not been a strong presence of young adults attending this conference in the past. The State Youth Council (SYC) saw opportunity to make a statement that young adults want to be involved, and are indeed taking leadership roles in the workforce.

50 young adults received sponsorships to attend the conference as proposed by the young leaders on the State Youth Council whom helped plan the conference. The vision was to bring other youth serving organizations to the conference and also present at sessions. Opportunity Youth United, Young Invincibles (YI), and Colorado Youth Congress presented throughout the event.

Two of our young adults at PHCI, Katalina Garcia and Isaiah Jiron, were part of the planning of the conference. They are both members of the SYC, have selected and attended skill building trainings offered to youth around Denver, and have gone through the Denver Youth Leadership Academy hosted by the Denver Opportunity Youth Initiative and YI. The young leaders pushed for a strong young adult presence at the Think Big Conference with the support of adult partners of SYC.
